Same in Australia, suicidal policies. Nothing learned from German and Britain. They can import but we have no extension cords.

Great piece again, I wasn’t aware of the Lincolnshire gas field that you referred to here; 480 bcm, that can cover Uk for 7 years as you say and one has heard crickets about it in the MSM, shameful when people are getting poorer by the day because of the ridiculously expensive prices.

Not a single mention in FT which has gone full tilt in climate hysteria.

Labour Party hates the poor man. All they care about is this deranged ideology.

Surprising that U.K. politicians are prepared to pursue policies, that have already failed just across the North Sea in Germany. In terms of competence, Michael Shanks and the architect of "Energiewende", Robert Habeck, seem to be at the same level. Habeck has a degree in classical German and has written a couple of children's books - but he was a leader of the movement "Die Grüne".

Also worth mentioning that Miliband's removal of the opportunity for oil and gas companies to make profits from the N Sea threatens their ability to fund the decommissioning of exhausted wells, despite their legal obligation to do so.

With no new drilling, the rigs are being deployed elsewhere in the world, making safe decommissioning impossible.

Excellent point. Alas, nothing like this gets covered in the MSM

I think that they are so inept, that you have to start wondering whether it is deliberate.

How could someone so apparently intelligent be such a complete idiot?

It is so obvious that if there’s demand and you do not produce it, you are forced to import it… with all the negative impacts outlined. If W&S could replace FF at around the same affordability we wouldn’t be having this conversation nor would we need to subsidize them. The fact they don’t materially improve co2 emissions is another stunner. God bless!

The illogical and illiterate response to our access to energy, now and in the future, reveals the ideology behind it. This same ideology captured Boris Johnson - and keeps us here in NZ, and worldwide in thrall. Why not stop being the proverbial ambulance at the bottom of the cliff? We know that our politicians lie. Why not explore the reasons for this decades old attempt at mass deception?

Thanks! Bl**dy Microsoft is insisting on "upgrading" my desktop. So before I let them do that, just to say, I very much look forward to reading this properly! More later, or tomorrow! Smile and thumbs up!
